Carolyn M. Wentland

Carolyn Wentland has been practicing criminal  defense in Bexar County for over fifteen years. She has been licensed since 2000, the same month she graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Prior to law school, Carolyn received her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and Law with a Certificate in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1991. She has experience working in the probation and parole fields prior to law school. She also has years of experience and training working with juveniles and individuals who have mental health issues.

In addition to having previously been a military spouse of an Air Force veteran, during law school, Carolyn worked with the JAG office on Fort Sam Houston, so she also is familiar with the special issues that military and military families face. The life and work experiences she has dealt with help her to be able to treat each and every individual who comes into contact with her office with the respect and dignity they deserve. It is the firm belief of her law firm that every individual deserves a diligent defense and unless and until we have walked in another’s shoes, we are in no position to judge. She and her staff make every attempt to provide an aggressive and unbiased defense, no matter what the offense you are accused of.

We are a trial firm.  What does this mean?  Ms. Wentland and her associates are willing and able to take your case to trial if necessary.  We know that being accused of a crime is a scary process....the thought of going to trial is also intimidating to say the least.  We do not ever WANT you to go to trial, but it is necessary in most cases to be prepared to take a case to trial if necessary.  In cases where the evidence against you is weak or inadmissible it affords us the best chance of getting your case dismissed or reduced.

The goal of our firm is to protect your record the best we can.Whether you are not guilty, guilty, or something in between, at our office you will receive a diligent, aggressive defense and we will make every attempt to keep you informed along the way. Our office has a reputation with the Bexar County DA’s office of not being a “plea bargain office.” We are very proud of that fact. Does that mean we never plea bargain? Absolutely not. We will always inform you of every plea bargain offer and every option, the choice will always be yours—BUT….we will also tell you, in our opinion, if we think we can fight your case and do better. That is what we are about, doing the best for you and your record and allowing you to make the ultimate decision explaining all the risks and benefits along the way.
